Sodium

Controlling sodium in my diet is as easy as decreasing the amount of my processed foods and eating more whole foods. Labels indicate the amount of sodium amounts and just tasting the food lets me know as I have been slowly decreasing my consumption of salt in my diet. It is really amazing how much flavour there is in whole food without salt.

When I cook I leave the salt out and let everyone put on their own as I am concerned about the rest of my family’s health too. I have bought salt substitutes and mixed it with the salt. Using more Indian spices and lemon to flavour food enhances our meals and when eating other food it is often tastes bland now. Reading labels has been the decision breaker whether I eat certain foods now, while improving the health of my family and myself.
