Sleep Apnea

Writer's picture: Kalina BainsKalina Bains

It was about ten years ago I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. Many nights I have problem sleeping because of restless leg syndrome or wake up with severe headaches; sleeping medications, insomnia and my monkey brain keep me awake.

Going to bed at regular time, getting a more comfortable pillow and listening to meditation or reading before I go to bed have helped me in the evening. My creative, writers’ brain often isn’t subdued until I get my thoughts on paper. Getting a glass of milk and walking around a bit, massaging helps my legs. I am still using some medication when I need them as is often the case, when I am up until 3-4 o’clock, tired but unable to sleep. It seems that often in the stillness, I am more creative and writing becomes more natural one advantage to being awake in the middle of the night
